There was just somethin' about her that was just, I don't know, larger than life. For years, I was like, "Oh, my God, if I come back, who would I do? I have no idea." But Dolly Parton has just always been a staple in my life, and she's the closest thing to a drag queen that I remember seein' as a kid. I was first eliminated from the Snatch Game. You truly became Dolly Parton during Snatch Game of Love. I'm no longer looking for permission to be myself from anyone, so I think comin' back and just gettin' to be 100-percent who I am just changes everything. I don't have any boundaries on who I am as a person. I really just wanted to come back and do it right and tell my story the right way. How long was getting on "All Stars" a goal for you?įrom the moment I was asked to sashay away, I felt like, "I think this must be a mistake." I felt like I could've went further on the show, and because I had those expectations, for years it made me feel like a loser, like people didn't get to really see who I was and get to know who I was. I made sure that I stayed 100-percent myself when I was there. I wanted to experience it for all the great things that it was, so I never let it get me down. Oh, for sure, because I'd see so many girls, even on "All Stars," they have all these expectations goin' in, and when they don't happen, it really can ruin their experience on the show. It sounds simple but I think it takes most people awhile to figure that out. I think when I was doing Season 2, I was so used to you (thinking) you either did drag 'cause it was fun or you were a pageant girl 'cause you wanted to compete in it. I never get ahead of myself, and that's one thing that changed from Season 2 to this season. When you walked back into the Werk Room, were you fully confident you'd make it this far? You're not gonna do nothin' with that." It's just kinda like, "Oh, really?" Look what can happen if you just believe in yourself and you put the work into it. What I think about is it's just really exciting to excel at something that you really love and that you're passionate about and to have RuPaul, who is the one that did not have "Drag Race" but did all of these things that we all wanna do, to have her share her experiences and create a platform for other people to live their dreams, their queer dreams, it just feels so good, you know? To get that far, it just feels like all those people that said, "Oh, you should stop doing drag.
